Vincent Van Goat is a French-accented goat who hosted Baby Van Gogh. He is by Legends and Lore, and was later sold as a Kids II puppet. Despite Baby Van Gogh being his only video appearance with the debated exception of World of Colors, he is one of the most popular characters in the Baby Einstein franchise. Hand puppets of him are quite common on the Internet. He is Theo Van Goat's brother.

Puppet Appearances[]

Baby Van Gogh[]

  • Vincent is first seen after the opening credits of Baby Van Gogh, when he trips over some offscreen paint cans and walks up to the viewers suddenly covered in paint. Then, he proceeds to write the letter V on the palette in the background, turns around, spits out his paintbrush, grunts in frustration, and walks away.
  • After the "overture" sequence, Vincent is cleaned up and returns to paint for the "Yellow" music video. After painting, Vincent throws his paintbrush down out of satisfaction.
  • Vincent then appears in the "green" puppet show where he walks up to Bonkers the Frog playing with a balloon who immediately runs away from him. Balloons then start popping right behind Vincent, much to his surprise. Then, he laughs it off and leaves to start painting for the "Green" music video. After the aforementioned music video, Vincent drops his brush in the paint can, and walks away.
  • Vincent is next seen during the "Orange" music video as he starts dancing to "The Blue Danube Waltz" by Johann Strauss, Jr. After he is finished, he writes his first name along the side of the painting.
  • Next, Vincent is seen sniffing purple flowers, until he falls in love with Vivian. He picks flowers for her, she takes them, and Vincent kisses her on the cheek, and they walk away together.
  • Vincent appears in the "Purple" music video marching to the music "Boléro" by Maurice Ravel. At the end of the music video, Vincent leaves after only finishing half of the painting because the music video version is shorter than the CD version. Once the coast is clear, the Duck from the "yellow" poem quacks twice and the remainder of the picture is finished.
  • Vincent is next seen in the "Red" music video dancing to the music "Gaîté Parisienne, Vivo" by Jacques Offenbach, however as soon as he showed up, the boats from the painting were already painted, and Vincent didn't end up painting anything throughout the music video because it was so short. He yawns, turns out the light, and the Duck from the "yellow" poem once again finishes the remainder of the painting.
  • Vincent is last seen during the "Blue" music video painting Starry Night.
  • Although in the 2000-2003 versions of the video, he does appear at the end credits with Markie Scholz, the puppeteer for the video, and the duck.

10 Years of Discovery Puppet Show[]

  • He is seen interacting with Bard the Dragon and Baby MacDonald the Cow and his idea was painting but of course a random girl from the audience decided to make everyone sing and dance to Old MacDonald Had a Farm.
  • He's also in the 10 Years of Baby Einstein Friends Song with a lot of characters.

World of Colors (2010 cancelled video)[]

  • Vincent appears in World of Colors, he paints a picture of Hugo Hippo, but the canvas turns out to be a blue background.

World of Colors[]

  • Vincent appears in World of Colors, only in reused footage from Baby Van Gogh. His puppet shows are pretty much identical, except for the palette after the opening credits.

Closer Look: The Letter A[]

  • Vincent tries to reach for a lone apple in a tree with a crate. When that fails, he rams his head to the tree and then he got hit with many apples falling on him.

Animated Appearances[]

Physical Appearance[]

Vincent is a domestic goat (Capra aegagrus hircus) with blue fur, a white beard, yellow horns, black erect ears, and a black nose. In his cartoon form, his beard is yellow, and he has a bandage on his right ear. The bandage makes sense because Van Gogh cut off part of his right ear with a razor.

Quotes[]

  • "Oui! Oui!"
  • "Ooh-la-la!"
  • "Merci beaucoup!"

Trivia[]

  • On the cover of the video, Vincent is seen with a bandaged ear, which he lacks in the video. A Japanese puppet includes the bandages on his ear.
  • Despite being blue, Vincent is not seen during the "Blue" puppet shows/poem, but he appears during the "Blue" music video.
  • At the end of the "Purple" music video, Vincent can be seen trying to make finishing touches to the painting, yet when he turns around, he isn't holding a paintbrush at all.
  • At the end of the "Orange" music video, a tiny bug crawls up Vincent's back while he signs his name.
  • In the Toy Chest Section, Vincent is seen with all six paint buckets with different colors, which was not used in the video.
  • Vincent, alongside Hugo Hippo in Meet The Orchestra, and Opus the Octopus in Baby Neptune were the only puppets who can actually speak words and phrases.
  • According to the Legends and Lore website in 2000, Vincent was described as a "painting fool."
  • His Character Color Palette is inspired by Van Gogh's Starry Night.
  • Despite the real Vincent Van Gogh being Dutch, Vincent Van Goat can be heard speaking French in the video. Van Gogh moved to France in 1886, so it makes some sense.
