Trivia[]
- Bard's name comes from William Shakespeare's title, The "Bard of Avon".
- A bard is a poet or a musician, traditionally one reciting epics and associated with a particular oral tradition. This fits with Bard's poetic nature and love of music.
- His original name Drizzle was the name given to the puppet that was used as his basis by his manufacturer, Legends and Lore.
- Bard might also be based on the self titled character from the 1898 story by Kenneth Grahame called The Reluctant Dragon, which is about a young boy who discovers a dragon who’s fun loving and a lover of poetry instead of a fearsome creature. This story was adapted by Disney as a segment of the 1941 live action/animation hybrid film of the same name.
- According to the Baby Einstein website in 2010, the reason why Bard says "Blah!" is that when he was a very young dragon, he wanted to learn how to spit fire from his mouth, but the only thing that came out of his mouth is "Blah!" He can later spit fire when lighting the "10" birthday candles from the Baby Einstein: 10 years of Discovery.
- Also in the same website but in 2009, Bard's favorite food is Crème Brûlée.
- A modified version of Bard appeared in an episode of the PBS Kids television series, The Puzzle Place called Spud Buds. The episode came out 3 years before his official debut in Baby Mozart.
